Taekwondo is a martial art and fighting sport which began in Korea. It aims to achieve indomitable spirit,modesty, perseverance and self control.

Through dedicated training the martial artist can hope to gain mental and physical fitness. By practicing and repeating each and every move to near perfection, we shall become more and more patient. Self-confidence is gained through the power of one’sown body and the knowledge of how to use it at any place and in any situation. Sparring helps us to gain humility, courage, alertness, and also accuracy and develops self-control. By doing Taewkondo forms , we also maximise our overall flexibility, grace, balance and our body co-ordination.

Through the discipline and interaction with others, we learn both co-operation and mutual respect. Along with developing a healthier, leaner and more flexible body, we also increase staying power through a typical training routine. The health-related effects of training are diverse.

Taekwondo has been changing and evolving for over several thousand years. But, it was not until the 1950s that Taekwondo was standardized and organized by Gen Choi Hong Hi and the sport was learned outside of Korea, at first to Vietnam and the America, and then to the rest of the world. As we speak, Taekwondo is organized in three international federations: WTF,ITF and the GTFTaekwondo is now in the olympics with the first competitions held during the Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, in 2000
